The Maruzza Foundation has chosen to foster the development of paediatric palliative care networks in the southern regions of Italy. It is recognized that enhanced quality of life depends directly on the quality of healthcare provision and the competence of the providers involved in healthcare delivery. Based on this principle, the Maruzza Foundation has devised a specialised paediatric palliative care and pain management training program for doctors, nurses, psychologists, physiotherapists working in the children’s hospitals in the Campania, Sicily and Puglia regions. This initiative, aimed at strengthening the in-house skills and competences of the healthcare staff working in the local children’s hospitals, is complemented by a training initiative in basic paediatric palliative care and pain management skills for GPs/Paediatricians operating in the children’s hospital catchment areas and those in neighbouring regions where there are currently no dedicated children’s hospitals (Calabria, Molise, Basilicata).
The project is developed in collaboration with the Italian Association of Paediatric Hospitals (AOPI) and the Cultural Association of Paediatricians (ACP) with financial contribution from the Terzo Pilastro Foundation.
Family GPs and paediatricians based in the Puglia, Campania, Sicily, Sardinia, Calabria, Basilicata or Molise Regions who would like to participate in online CPC and PM training can contact us at: formazione@maruzza.org
